What I did on election night
Because Washington now votes entirely based on absentee ballots I completed my civic duty fairly early this year. I was however hired by the Associated Press as a vote entry clerk, so that if you were watching the news at any time last night, and saw the results of races in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, West Virginia, and South Carolina, most likely those were votes I entered into the AP computer system. This is the article describing what we were doing http://www.ap.org/elections2006/electionnight.html we worked for about 12 hours non-stop recieving calls from 26 states throughout the country. We were paid minimum wage, which in Washington isn't too bad, and they provided coffee energy drinks, water snacks, and dinner. As a college student who wouldn't pass up the opportunity for free food and a little extra cash?
