My address

Just to throw it out there for general knowledge, I moved into an apartment at school, and my new address (which will be valid until about mid-June) is

Maggie Parker

917 2nd st. Apt.2

Cheney, Wa 99004

I'm enjoying simply being able to have my own space and cooking my own food. Though my roommate is 17 and an international student, so she's not quite used to living on her own, and certainly not used to America yet so it's been an experience.

So there was talk of a cookbook...

This thanksgiving I'm not planning on going back to Walla Walla, a couple friends and I were going to head up to Seattle, but we changed our plans and decided to stay here in Cheney. The plan is to make Thanksgiving dinner at my friend Jamie's apartment. Jamie is from Australia, and knows nothing of the concept of making tons of food, taking a nap, and then eating more food. He's never even had Turkey. His roommate David certainly isn't much of a cook (he manages with Hamburger Helper) though David's girlfriend insists that she will help bake pies. So what we're looking for are simple Thanksgiving recipies. We have very limited utensils, though I'm going to try to borrow a few items from my residence hall kitchen, and I may make a stop at the dollar store. Anyway, any ideas are welcome!

What I did on election night

Because Washington now votes entirely based on absentee ballots I completed my civic duty fairly early this year. I was however hired by the Associated Press as a vote entry clerk, so that if you were watching the news at any time last night, and saw the results of races in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, West Virginia, and South Carolina, most likely those were votes I entered into the AP computer system. This is the article describing what we were doing http://www.ap.org/elections2006/electionnight.html we worked for about 12 hours non-stop recieving calls from 26 states throughout the country. We were paid minimum wage, which in Washington isn't too bad, and they provided coffee energy drinks, water snacks, and dinner. As a college student who wouldn't pass up the opportunity for free food and a little extra cash?
